Stella Slowik Leedecke

BATH - Stella Slowik Leedecke, age 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Bath.

She was born in Coalport, Pennsylvania on May 9, 1924 the daughter of Peter and Teckla Gowenbrowski Slowik. She married Charles Leedecke on May 29, 1948 with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Leedecke; two daughters, Susan (Walter) Piepke of Dayton, Virginia and Jane (Barry) Saville of Mecksville, North Carolina; her son, Charles J. (Debbie) Leedecke of New Bedford, Massachusetts; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister Helen Byrd of Los Altos, California. She was predeceased by her ten brothers and sisters and her parents.

She served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II as 2nd Lieutenant and retired from the V.A.M.C. in Bath. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bath, National Association of Retired Federal Employers, and the Charles E. Wescott American Legion Post 173 in Bath.

Stella requested that there be no calling hours and a private burial at the convenience of the family in Bath National Cemetery. Memorial donations in Stella's name may be made to the St. Mary's Church, 32 East Morris Street, Bath, NY 14810. Arrangements are entrusted with Fagan's Funeral Home of Bath.
