IDM Hospital, Arnot to discuss partnership

BATH - Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital and the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center have entered into an exclusive agreement with Arnot Health, the parent company of Arnot-Ogden Hospital, to explore affiliation opportunities.

"It's important that high quality healthcare continue to be accessible in rural Steuben County," said James Watson, CEO of Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. "Arnot Health can help us provide quality healthcare, expand services and ensure our long term presence here. We are very excited about this opportunity."

Both organizations are community based nonprofit hospitals with independent community governance comprised of community leaders. The affiliation discussions will take several months and a comprehensive evaluation of both organizations will be conducted.

"Everyone deserves quality healthcare, and it has long been part of Arnot Health's mission to ensure accessibility to that care by bringing it to the rural areas of our region," said Anthony Cooper, CEO of Arnot Ogden Medical Center. "In this case, both organizations share similar values and we both understand the need for quality medical services and hospital-based skilled nursing care in Steuben County, so it is a natural fit to look at ways to collaborate."

The goals of a potential affiliation are to enhance the high-quality medical care and services available in rural Steuben County, improve access to unmet medical needs, as well as ensure the long-term presence of healthcare services in the community. Arnot Health and Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital already enjoy strong relationships in general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and cardiology.

The Davenport & Taylor healthcare organization, founded in 1910, is comprised of a 66-bed acute care hospital, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, and a full complement of ancillary services. Located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State between the villages of Bath and Hammondsport.

Arnot Health, celebrating 120 years as a regional healthcare provider, provides diagnostic, ambulatory, secondary and tertiary acute care, as well as rehabilitative and wellness services to the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. Arnot Ogden Medical Center is an independent, not-for-profit, 256-bed tertiary medical facility, with a 40-bed skilled nursing facility.
