BATH - Village officials are inviting recommendations from the public for a legal name for the newest village street, a 45-foot-wide paved lot extending between the new fire station on East Morris Street and the adjacent property of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The village board is expected to dedicate the lot as a legal thoroughfare at a later date. In the meantime, suggested names may be submitted to the village clerk's office in the Liberty Street municipal building.

Police Chief David Rouse recommended issuing a legal name for the lot for the purposes of writing parking tickets and contacting 911 in an emergency.

The lot currently serves as an avenue for fire trucks returning from calls, allowing the vehicles to swing behind the fire station and turn into the parking bays. It also will access a future parking area for Wilson Park.
