Coming up at your library

Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library Jan. 30: The Cornell Cooperative Extension will offer a workshop on forcing bulbs in the Keuka Room from 6- 8p.m. Pre-registration is requested by calling 569-2045.

Jan. 31: From 6 to 8 p.m. Debbie Fisher, Creative Memories Consultant, will help patrons get ready for Valentine's Day. Bring four or five photos. She will show how to crop pictures, add page enhancements/stickers and complete a story card with journaling to give as a gift. The class will also make a 12" Valentine border. Fee: $4.00 per person. All materials provided. Please call the library at 569-2045 to pre-register.

Feb. 8-9: Come browse the many used books at the Mid- Winter Book Sale. Hours Feb. 8 are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sale hours on Feb. 9 are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hungry? Buy your Chicken BBQ ticket by Feb. 6 and pick up your meal on Feb. 9 from noon to 2 p.m. Browse books and take home ready-to-eat food. Also offered at the book sale will be raffle tickets for a lovely quilt made by local quilter Nancy Drum. The drawing for the quilt will be at our summer book sale, Aug. 7. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

Feb. 16: From 10:30 a.m. to noon: An overview of where to begin in genealogy will be presented by Marilyn Wertmann. Lists of websites, forms and tips on where to start will be provided. Examples of how to present your history - whether in book, chart or summary format will also be shown. There is no cost associated with the class, but pre-registration is required by calling 569-2045.

Free Movies continue at the library through the month of February. On Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. "Artic Tale" will be shown during our Kids Movie Time, while "High School Musical: 2" will be the feature during our Family Movie Night on Feb. 27 at 6:30 pm. All movies are free and open to the public. Children under 12 must have a grown-up present. Popcorn available!

Dormann Library Brenda Wright, a music teacher for the Haverling school district, will perform at the Dormann Library's Chapters Cafe Feb. 7. The Dormann Library hosts a pre-school story hour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday. The library also hosts a story hour for 3-year-olds from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Friday.

Avoca Free Library The Avoca Free Library will host a Valentine Story and Activity Hour for children on Feb. 9, 2008 from 10 to 11 a.m.
