Jane S. Hill

PULTENEY - Jane S. Hill, 84, of 10769 Cross St., passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Taylor Health Center.

She was born August 25, 1923 in Prattsburgh, the daughter of Chandos and Florence Litteer Shuart. She was predeceased by her husband Preston J. Hill on Feb. 1, 1994.

Jane worked at Gold Seal Winery for 22 years and then at the Steuben County Social Services Dept. for 17 years. She was a member and former Elder of the Pulteney Presbyterian Church, Charter member of the Pulteney Firemans Auxillary, a volunteer with RSVP, member of the Vine City Eastern Star, Wine Country Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Society.

Surviving are her sons Preston James "Jim" Hill of Pulteney, Charles Jacke (Millie) Hill of Bath and Robert Jerrie (Nancey) Hill of Bath; brother Robert (Pat) Shuart of Hammondsport; sister Eleanor Jones of Bath; daughters-in-law Shirley C. HIll of Bathand Jane B. Hill of Pulteney; sistersin law Nancy Shuart of Bath and Jean Shuart of St. Cloud, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her, parents and her brothers Andrew D. Shuart and Richard J. Shuart.

Friends called Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 4-7 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Pulteney Presbyterian church. Rev. Donal Peek officiated and Interment was held in Glenview Cemetery, Pulteney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulteney Presbyterian Church or the Pulteney Vol. Fire Dept. Everyone was invited to the Pulteney Fire Hall after the committal services for a luncheon. An Eastern Star Service was held at the funeral home Tusday night, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m.
