Bath students honored as good citizens

BATH - Twenty elementary and middle school students were presented with the Steuben County Recognition Award in Nov. This award program is made possibl through a parnership of the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Youth Bureau.

According to Danielle Rice, Middle School guidence counselor, the award is given to selected students that consistently exhibit positive behavior and attitude, are hard workers, are "good neighbors" in school and the community, and try their best every day.

DSS Commissioner Kathryn Biehl and Youth Program Administrator Gary Pruyn presented Dana Lyon students Amy Keeney, Charles Force, Jorden Knowles, Frances Hadley, Stephanie Murray and Megan Pierce and Middle School students Destiny Brown, Braxton Frederick, Caleb Hann, John Murray, Michael Zoerman, Kyle Conklin, Mark Knight, Elizabeth Morris, Kara Queen, Maranda Rumsey, Baylee Horton, Brett Knapp, David Pierce and Alexandria Sprague with trophies, framed Steuben County Good Citizen certificates and gift cards for Wal- Mart during an awards ceremony on Nov. 30, 2007. A reception for students and their families was held afterward.

The award winners and chaperones, Dana Lyon Prinicipal Susan Graham and School Counselor Matt Ford, enjoyed a morning of shopping at the Gang Mills Wal-Mart on Dec. 8, 2007.
