Letchworth Indians top Bath Haverling
BY SHAWN VARGO THE LEADER

BATH - Letchworth amassed 37 unanswered points at one point on its way to a 40-33 wrestling win over Bath Haverling on Thursday, Jan. 24.

After Bath's Mitch Buckley opened the evening with a 3:13 pin over Austin Hedges at 112 pounds, the Indians dominated things over the next eight weight classes to build an almost in surmoun table 37-6 advantage. Even with Bath scoring points in five of the final six matches, the Rams could not overcome the massive deficit.

"Letchworth is a very good team and I knew they would be very solid from the middle of the lineup up through," said Bath head coach Jim Fowler. "We couldn't get pinned and they kept digging for pins- they were working hard trying for pins."

Bath nearly took control after Buckley's victory as Nick Beyea held a 7-1 lead going into the third period, but dropped an 8-7 decision to Austin Harding. The Rams' Jacob Harrison also squandered an early 6-0 advantage in his 11-8 loss to Bucky Hendrickson at 125 pounds.

"Nick is a JV kids and I threw him in there because we've got a lot of injuries and he did the best he could- but he should have won the match," Fowler said. "Then we should have won the

match at 125 with Harrison."

During its points surge, Letchworth (15-12) earned pin fall victories from Dave Wooley (145), Evan Sylor (152) and Pat Pankow (160), while also getting forfeit points at 140 pounds.

Bath's Jake Hann picked up a pair of third period reversals on his way to a 7-2 win at 171 pounds, to help stop the bleeding.

The Rams' Cody Hutcheson then pinned Bryan Drobdowski at 189 pounds to cut Letchworth's lead to 37-15. The Indians then sealed the win when Jeff Holly topped Zack Simons 8-5 at 215 pounds.

"They were in better shape than we were and they outworked us," Fowler said. "They wrestled for six minute and were the better team tonight."

Bath closed the match with pinning victories from Brady Gleason (285) and Kyle Conrad (103) and a forfeit win by Brian Hojnoski (96).
