Michael A. San Angelo

HAMMONDSPORT - Michael San Angelo, age 91, of 8812 County Route 76 passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30.

He was born July 9, 1916 in Corona, New York. The son of Michael and Julie Riccuitti San Angelo. His wife Rose A. San Angelo passed away Feb. 15, 2003.

Mike moved to Hammondsport from New Jersey in 1991. He was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and taught religious education to the youth of the Parish. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He loved sports and was an avid golfer. Before his retirement, he was Vice President of Sales for a large New York City trucking company. He loved the Hammondsport area and especially the peole who live there. His family and friends were the joy of his life.

Surviving are his daughters Julie (Arthur) Sable of Hammondsport and Lucy Farris of Hammondsport; so n Matthew (Marge) San Angelo of Hammondsport; 16 grandchildren Michael Sable, Julie Ullrich, Be Sable, Lisa Cole, Andy Sable, Art Sable, Denise Horan, Pam Aini, Michelle Wendlandt, Kim De Monda, Heather Passeralli, John San Angelo, Lori San Angelo, Jennifer San Angelo, Christine and Nicole Rodriguez; and 22 great grandchildren. Papa Mike always was a very big part of our lives and will missed dearly.

He was pre-deceased by his son Jack San Angelo in 1991 and his son-in-law Joseph Farris in 2007.

Friends and family may call at Mike's home at 8812, Rte 76, Middle Road, Hammondsport on Sunday, Feb. 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A memorial service at St. Gabriel's Church in Hammondsport on Monday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport at the convenience of the family. After the mass, everyone is invited to a lucheon in McGill Hall of the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Gabriel's Church in his memory.

Arrangements are by the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport.
