Clarence L. Hyde

SAVONA - Clarence L. Hyde, 69, of Cty Rt 12, Savona, formerly of Kanona, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, at the Cleveland Clinical Hospital in Ohio.

He was born March 4, 1938 in Bradford, son of predeceased Keith Hyde of Bradford and Ila Reynolds of Savona.

He served his beloved country while serving in the US Navy.

Clarence worked as an electrician at Corning Glass Works for 36 years and retired from CGW Pressware plant in 1993.

He was one of the founding fathers and was a past chief of he Kanona Vol. Fire Dept. established in 1974 in Kanona.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, snowmobiling, dancing and living life to the fullest with his wife, family and friends.

Clarence was predeceased by his sister, Silvia (Hyde) Welker; brother Earl Whitehead; and step-child, Bobby Cook.

Surviving family include his loving wife of 25 years, Florence Hyde; mother-in-law, Florence Early both of Savona; daughter, Susan (Theo) Morse of Hammondsport; son, David L. ( Jeanna) Hyde of Hammondsport; step-children, Deb (Hollie) Fenton of Bath, Christine Dusenberry of Mentor, Ohio and Jeff Hagen of Williamsville.

Clarence had nine grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of his life on March 8, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and services at 1 p.m. at the Kanona Fire Hall, Kanona.

He will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport.
