Bath Haverling takes LCAA title
Hutcheson named Most Outstanding
THE LEADER

DANSVILLE - Jim Fowler admitted he would have taken a top-three effort.

As it turned out, his Bath Haverling Rams emerged the overall team champion Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Livingston county Athletic Association wrestling tournament at Dansville High School.

Thanks to first-place showings from Cody Hutcheson at 171 pounds, Jacob Harrison (119) and Kyle Conrad (103), Bath won the tournament with 216 points. It was the Rams' first county tournament title since 2004. Warsaw finished second with 195.5 points, while LeRoy was third (184.5).

Hutcheson shined brightest and was voted the tournament's wrestler for the third consecutive year.

Bath got second-place finishes from Nick Beyea (112), Billy Crowe (130) and Zach Simons (189).

"I'm extremely pleased," Fowler said. "Everyone wrestled well and we put a good tournament together and we won the county championship, so we're happy."

Eleven Bath wrestlers placed in the top six in their respective weight classes.

Brian Hojnoski (96) and Mitch Buckley (112) each garnered third-place showings for the Rams, while teammate Sean Dailey took fourth at 140. Scott Andrews (152) and A.J. Cupp (215) each notched sixth-place finishes for the Rams.
