Phyllis S. Ackerman
BATH - Phyllis S. Ackerman, 69, of Bath, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 19, 1938 in Bath, the daughter of Ralph and Jessie Nowicki Stevens Sr.
Phyllis was a member of the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church in Canisteo.
She fought a very brave and long battle with breast cancer while all along never letting her family and friends know how difficult her fight was. She is loved by so many and will be missed but never forgotten. She will be with us, in our hearts, forever.
Surviving are her loving and dedicated husband of 48 years, Roger; one son, James (Heidi) Ackerman; three daughters, Cynthia (Gary) Ackerman, Shelley (Rick) Machuga and Cheryl (Carl) Chittim; 13 grandchildren, Zachery, Aaron, and Nathan Keohane, Justin and MacKenzie Ackerman, Megan and Tim Beavers, Trevor, Donovan and Connor Kelley, Alexander and Wesley Chittim and Jourdan Machuga; mother-in-law, Jane Peck; brother-in-law, Richard (Jean) Ackerman; brothers, Ralph (Grace) Stevens Jr., Richard (Gerry) Stevens, David (Margie) Stevens and Daniel (Barbara) Stevens; step sistersin law, Lois and Joan Peck; and step brother-in-law, Dale Peck.
She was pre-deceased by her parents; father-in-law, Wesley Ackerman; and step father-in-law, Larry Peck.
Phyllis and Roger resided in Bath and traveled to Zephyrhills, Florida, to enjoy winters with their friends at Baker Acres.
Friends called Friday, Feb. 15 from 5-8 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church in Canisteo. Re v. Daniel Pickering officiated and Interment will be held in Branchport Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Everyone was invited to a luncheon at the church after the service.
