H-port gains 67-65 victory against C-G

BATH - Ricci Wendlandt buried a pair of free throws with just one second remaining in double overtime to lift No. 8 Hammondsport to a 67- 65 victory over No. 5 Canisteo- Greenwood in a Steuben County consolation bracket game, Feb. 9.

Despite trailing 20-5 after the first quarter, the Lakers rallied and forced overtime when Brian Stachnik hit a layup off a steal with four seconds remaining in regulation. Stachnik led the Lakers with a game-high 19 points, six steals and four assists.

Hammondsport then grabbed a two-point lead in the first overtime when Ryan House converted a four-point play with four seconds left. However, Canisteo-Greenwood forced a second extra session when Brandon Wallace caught the long in bounds pass and laid in a shot at the overtime buzzer.

Bryce Ryan and Brett Ryan each netted 18 points to lead the Indians.

House finished with 12 points, while teammate Jake Clarkson netted 11 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.

"It was awesome," Hammondsport coach Jon Lowin said. "(Canisteo- Greenwood) handled us pretty well during the season and we're playing real well right now."

C-S defeats C-G 49- 21

CANISTEO - Campbell- Savona's defense held Arkport to eight field goals in a 49-21 win at Canisteo-Greenwood in the consolation bracket of the SCAA tournament Friday, Feb. 8.

Kaitlin Smith led all scorers with 18 points in addition to her seven rebounds and five blocks for the Panthers. Teammate Ashley Warner netted nine points and cleaned up the glass with a game-high 13 boards. Corinne Wright scored 13 points for the Panthers, while Campbell-Savona's foreign-exchange student, Camilla Kofod, narrowly missed her first two free throw attempts of the season.

Lindsey Maker led Arkport with six points, as Sami Gallant and Ashley Griffin added five points apiece for the Blue Jays.

C-G girls basketball team defeats C-S

CANISTEO - It took two overtimes to decide the winner of Monday's, Feb. 11, No. 2 Canisteo-Greenwood versus No. 5 Campbell-Savona matchup, but the Redskins took advantage of some Panther foul trouble in a 64-56 win.

Julie Bossard led Canisteo- Greenwood (16-4) with 24 points, as the Redskins outscored Cambpell-Savona 10-2 in the second overtime. Reagan Ryan added 17 points for Canisteo-Greenwood, while Judith Ernst also hit double digits with 10.

Campbell-Savona's Kaitlin Smith led all scorers with 28 points, in addition to her nine blocks and eight rebounds. Corrine Wright added a dozen points, six rebounds and four assists. Sarah Warner led the Panthers on the glass with 18 boards, but Smith and Cici Failing fouled out in the second overtime, giving Canisteo- Greenwood the edge.

Avoca defeats Bradford 44-23

PRATTSBURGH - Mo Parks scored 13 points and Alli Robords added 12 in Avoca's 44-23 win over Bradford Monday, Feb. 11.

Avoca scored 21 points in the final quarter to pull away to victory and will now await seedings before finding out their Section V, Class DD sectional opponent.

Chelsea Dykes and Teri McGettigan led the Braves with six points apiece.

Haverling outscores York 43-41

YORK - Bath Haverling outscored York 43-41 in the third quarter on its way to a tight victory Monday, Feb. 11.

Leah Fuerst, Elisabeth Hall and Amber Price all had eight points apiece for the Rams, while Nikki Murat chipped in with five. Price had a doubledouble with her 11 boards.

Cali Chirico led York with a gamehigh 13 points.

"York is a high-scoring team and that proved to be a big test for our defense," said Bath head coach Randy Abrams. "It also proved to be a big test for our offense in trying to put enough points on the board to stay with them."

H-port gains win against Arkport

CANISTEO - Sixth-ranked Hammondsport gained some momentum heading into the Section V tournament with a 42-24 win over No. 8 Arkport in the consolation round of the SCAA tournament at Canisteo- Greenwood Monday, Feb. 11.

Hammondsport's Jenna Presley led all scorers with nine points, while grabbing four rebounds. Maggie Benedict netted six points for the Lakers, while Jen Gordon added five points, four assists and three steals.

Ashley Griffin led Arkport with five points, as Karley Schultheis, Lindsey Maker and Dani Dye all chipped in with four points apiece.

Bradford gains win against Prattsburgh

PRATTSBURGH - No. 10 Bradford started off slow, but caught fire after the first quarter to down No. 9 Avoca 62-44 Monday, Feb. 11, in Prattsburgh.

Bradford (3-16) received balanced scoring, as four Braves scored in double figures. Ryan Dykes led Bradford with five 3-pointers as part of his teamhigh 19 points. Teammates Phil Wytrwa, Pat Miller and Mitchell Kelly all netted 11 for the Braves.

Avoca's Joe Wallace led all scorers with 26 points, including all four of the Tigers' treys. Kiezen Wigger added six points for Avoca (8-11).

"I have to give Bradford all the credit in the world, they came out hard and we didn't have an answer," said Avoca head coach Donnie Rodbourn. "I'd also like to thank Prattsburgh for letting us use their gym tonight."

Avoca and Bradford will both compete in the Section V tournament, which will be

decided once all the Section V +

games have been completed.

P-burgh takes third in county

PRATTSBURGH - Brittany Wheeler poured in 11 points to lead Prattsburgh to a 38-35 win over Addison Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the third-place game of the Steuben County girls basketball tournament.

Megan Wright grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds for the Vikings, while teammate Claire Campbell added six points, five steals and five assists.

Liz Gorges led Addison (8- 12) with 10 points and teammate Danielle Hill chipped in with nine points.

Bath boys drop Warsaw

DANSVILLE - With 52 points in the middle two quarters, Bath Haverling sprinted past Warsaw for a 76-59 victory at Dansville in the LCAA Tournament Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Bath-Haverling (7-11) had its offense going, as four Rams scored in double figures. McKenzie Durham and Tyree McCloud paced Bath with 14 points apiece. Andre McCloud added a dozen for the Rams, while Brett Sutryk splashed three 3-pointers as part of his 11-point effort.

Warsaw's Chris Parrott led all scorers with 26 points, including four treys, while
