GATEHOUSE MEDIA

WAYLAND - Despite having two players out with illnesses and a 2-for-18 night from the foul line, Bath Haverling edged Wayland- Cohocton 46-44 Thursday, Feb. 14, in a crossover game as part of the Livingston County tournament.

The Rams had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter before shooting 1-for-10 from the charity stripe to let the Eagles back within striking distance. Bath held tough and eventually gutted out a two-point win without starter Mike Rossi and Josh Butler, both out of the lineup due to sickness.

Chris Leonard's doubledouble of 10 points and 10 rebounds paced the Rams, while Sean Lyke netted eight of his 12 points in the fourth quarter to complement his nine boards. Andre McCloud also scored a dozen, while Tyree McCloud netted seven points to go along with his nine rebounds.

"We were 2-10 and now we've won six out of seven," said Bath head coach Randy Brzezinski. "Leonard and Lyke both had huge games for us without Mike (Rossi) in there tonight."

Wayland-Cohocton's Owen Peaty led all scorers with 15 points, while teammate Kyle Donals dropped 14 for the Eagles.

Bath has earned the No. 7 seed in the Section V, Class BB tournament and will host its opening round game Tuesday, Feb. 19, against an opponent to be determined.
