GATEHOUSE MEDIA

ROCHESTER - Bath Haverling wrestler Cody Hutcheson earned a trip to the NYSPHSAA state tournament with a victory over Warsaw's Zak Griffith Saturday, Feb. 22, at RIT.

Hutcheson won the 171- pound match via pin in 1:49 and will compete at states March 8-9 at Rochester's Blue Cross Arena. It will be the second trip to states for the junior, who competed last year at 152 pounds.

"This is back-to-back for him," said Bath head coach Jim Fowler. "He works as hard as anyone I've ever coached. He works hard in the weight room and he works hard in the wrestling room."

Hutcheson will enter the state tournament with an impressive 44-2 record, which ups his career mark with the Rams to 172-27.

"Cody has been a captain for three years on the varsity," Fowler said. "He's naturally a good athlete, but he's also No. 1 in his class with a 99 average. Everything he does he's good at."

The Rams also had two wrestlers earn third place finishes - Kyle Conrad at 103 pounds and Billy Crowe at 130 pounds.

Conrad, a sophomore, earned an 11-3 major decision against Pembroke's Adam Hill. Conrad upped his record to 41-2 this season.
