Obama charges inaccurate

In response to Patricia Eaton's "Who is Barack Obama" printed in the Courier the week of March 2nd, I must take issue with her incorrect facts and for you the Courier for printing them.

It appears Ms. Eaton got her information from forwarded chain emails or from friends that have received or heard of these stories and not realized of their total falsehoods, smear mail.

Barrack Obama is a Christian and a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago for 20 years. He has never been a Muslim and in January 2005 he was sworn into the U.S. Senate raising his right hand and placing his left on his Christian family bible.

Senator Obama is a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee, and has fought to help the Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has strong support from the Veterans for Obama in New York.

Barack's Grandfather taught him to say the pledge of allegiance and he often leads the Senators as they recite it together. As for refusing to wear an American flag lapel pin, Senator Obama feels Patriotism resided in the hearts and not the lapel, "I'm less concerned about what you are wearing on your lapel than what's in your heart". I am a veteran, and love my country and do not wear a flag pin.

When you vote this fall I hope your decision is based on creditable facts and not some chain mail or what a friend heard or what you read in the letters to the editor for that matter. And you dear Editor with your commitment to provide accurate information, and then printing a letter with prejudice and blatant incorrect facts are being part of the problem.

Don't take my word for it, research the candidates for yourself from creditable sources.
