The Blotter Grand larceny On March 8, 2008 the New York State Police in Bath arrested Christopher E. Abeel, age 31, of 39 Denwood Terrace in the Village of Bath for Grand Larceny 3rd (a class D Felony.) Arrest follows the investigation of a report that Abeel, who was working as a private contractor, was paid in excess of $3000 for contracting work he did not begin or attempt to complete. The investigation revealed that Abeel agreed to complete a job in the Village of Hammondsport, was paid in excess of $3000 on May 2, 2007, and failed to start or complete to job for which he was hired. Abeel was arraigned before Village of Hammondsport Court, and was released on his own recognizance. Abeel is scheduled to reappear in the Village of Hammondsport Court on March 24, 2008 at 8 p.m. four further court action. Possession of a weapon Bath State Police arrested Kenneth A. Smith, 37, of Summerville, South Caroling for Criminal Possession of a weapon 4th following a traffic stop on State route 53 on march 6, 2008. A passenger in the vehicle Antoinette LaVooke, 41, of Bath, was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance. Both were remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of bail (Smith-$750 cash/$1000 property bond and LeVook-$500 cash/$1000 property bond.) Speeding Bath State Police arrested Jason L. Siplin, 31, of Rochester, for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd, Unlawful Possession of marijuana, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substnace 7th and speeding (85/65) following a traffic stop on I- 390 in the Town of Avoca on March 6, 2008. Marijuana On March 8, 2008, during a traffic stop, Bath State Police arrested a passenger in the vehicle, Thomas L. Covell, 16 of Bath, for Unlawful Possession of marijuana. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Urbana Court at a later date. DWI Bath State Police arrested Eric. N. Decker, 30, of Avoca, for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on State Route 415 on March 3, 2008. He was remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $2000 cash or $4000 property bond bail. |
