Lindsay seeking new attorney BATH - A 48-year-old North Hornell man accused of attacking his wife and molesting children is in the process of getting a new attorney, forcing the postponement of his arraignment Monday, March 24. Richard D. Lindsay appeared briefly Monday in Steuben county Court. Because he didn't have an attorney, Judge Peter Bradstreet postponed his arraignment on sex charges until March 31. It was the second time in a week Lindsay's arraignment was postponed. Lindsay is currently represented by Michael Chamblee of Rochester. Corning attorney Daniel Gerwig may soon represent Lindsay, although no official paperwork has been signed, Bradstreet said. Lindsay is being held without bail in the Steuben County Jail. He is charged with more tan 60 felonies related to the sexual abuse of children. He is also charged with aggravated criminal contempt for allegedly attacking his wife march 14 at the BOCES campus in Coopers Plains. Additional charges will likely be filed in that case after prosecutors present evidence to a grand jury. He has not been arraigned on the contempt charge. Lindsay allegedly attacked his estranged wife, Amy Lindsay of Addison, around 9:10 a.m. March 14 on Vocational Drive. He allegedly rammed her minivan with a U-Haul truck, causing the minivan to roll over. Then he pulled the woman through the minivan's windshield and repeatedly struck her with the butt end of a rifle, police said. The assault was stopped by two school officials and a student resource officer. Amy Lindsay suffered a broken arm and other injuries. |
