BATH - Area resident Henry O. Dormann, the chairman and editor in-chief of the magazine "Leaders." will begin a series of local interviews to be broadcast later this month by the Elmira television station WETM.

Dormann's first interview will be with Joyce and John Loza, owners of the Chat-AWyle restaurant, and Tara Hamilton, the Chat-A-Whyle's baker who turns out daily servings of the restaurant's famous sticky buns.

The interview will take place at a later date this month. WETM announced the series - called "Friends and Neighbors" - will begin airing Saturday, April 26, after the 7 to 9 a.m. "Today Show," produced by NBC.

Scott Iddings, director of marketing and production for WETM, said the show will run for 13 months and highlight local people with an interesting story to tell. "The premise is, Mr. Dormann will interview people whom people know and people whom people don't know and tell an interesting story," Iddings said.

"He knows a lot of people," Iddings added. "It's not like we're going to be at a loss for finding interesting stories."

Dormann told The Courier he has planned interviews with residents in politics, education and business. Future subjects include: Trafford Doughtery, director of the Glenn Curtiss Museum and Marie McKee, chief executive officer of Steuben Glass.

Also: Eric Massa, former candidate for U.S. Congress; John "Randy" Kuhl, U.S. congressman representing the 29th District; Floyd "Bud" Amann, president of Corning Community College, and the staff of the Village Tavern in Hammondsport - "the world's greatest collection of beer," Dormann said.

In 1978, Dormann founded "Leaders," a worldwide magazine published quarterly with articles on leading authorities in the world of government and business. He also founded the Library of Presidential Papers and has served as chairman of the board of the National Enquirer.

A patron of community projects that have included construction of the Dormann Library in Bath, Dormann said "Friends and Neighbors" will be an effort to introduce the local area to its own interesting people. "I've always felt we should do something to build up the community," said Dormann.
