Bath boys lacrosse defeats Mynderse 11-7 GATEHOUSE MEDIA

GREECE - Mckenzie Durham tallied three goals and two assists Saturday, March 29, to lead Bath Haverling to an 11-7 win over Mynderse.

Zack Reed netted three goals for the Rams and teammate Dave Harris added two goals and an assist.

Nick Rossi got things started for Bath, scoring each of his two goals in the first quarter.

Chris Wolfer turned back seven shots to earn the victory. Wolfer got plenty of support defensively as the Rams held Mynderse scoreless on four man-up opportunities.

"Our clearing was awesome and we were very good mandown," Bath head coach Ken DiDomineck said. "We controlled the ball for most of the fourth quarter."

Durham also camp up big by scooping up 15 groundballs.

"Durham dominated when he needed to and had a nice game," DiDomineck said.

Bath (2-0) will play at Newark at 5 p.m. Monday, April 7.

Crusaders gain win against the Panthers GATEHOUSE MEDIA

SOUTHPORT - Elmira Notre Dame's Emily Pautz struck out seven to help the Crusaders down Campbell- Savona 5-1 Tuesday, April 1.

Notre Dame got offensive help from Taylor Drake, who went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Danielle Schenone tripled.

Campbell-Savona grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a Brooke Knowles RBI, before Notre Dame struck for three in its half of the first off Panthers starter Cici Failing.

P'burgh boys baseball defeats Naples 8- 5 GATEHOUSE MEIDA

NAPLES - Logan Wheeler capped a 3-for-5 effort at the plate by driving in the goahead run with an RBI single in the eighth to lead Prattsburgh to an 8-5 victory over Naples Wednesday, April 2.

After Wheeler drove in his second run to give the Vikings a 6-5 lead, Dylon Dibble and Cody Grey also followed with RBI singles to pad Prattsburgh's lead.

Dibble tripled and went 3- for-5. Wheeler also scored three runs.

Ryan Risely came on in relief in the seventh for Prattsburgh (1-0) and picked up the win.

Micah Betts homered and drove in two runs for Naples (0-1).

C'bell girls softball gains win against Bradford GATEHOUSE MEDIA

BRADFORD - Campbell- Savona's bats were hot Wednesday, April 3, as the Panthers scored at least on run in six out of seven innings to post a 8-0 shutout victory over Bradford.

Amanda Mehlenbacher led Campbell-Savona's offensive onslaught with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate, including a triple and two RBI's. Teammate Brooke Knowles also went 3-for-5 with two RBI's, while Sarah Warner added a 3-for-4 day at the dish with one RBI.

"We had a great game offensively," said Campbell- Savona's first-yeah coach Joanie Makowiec. "We were aggressive at the plate and Sarah pitched great."

In addition to Warner's three hits on offense, the senior pitcher scattered four hits over seven innings of work to earn her first win of the season.

Bradford struggled at the plate against a dominate Warner, as Autumn Stone picked up the loss on the mound for the Braves.

P'burgh gains first win of the season over Wellsville GATEHOUSE MEDIA

WELLSVILLE - Thanks to two singles wins, Prattsburgh was able to win its first match of the season over Wellsville 3-2 Wednesday, April 2 on the road.

Wade Fuller led Prattsburgh with a three-set + marathon at second doubles. Fuller won the first set (6-3), dropped the second (6-7(3-7) and was trailing in the third set before he rallied for a 6-4 win.

Teammate Dustin Dibble took Wellsville's Colin Brown in straight sets, while the team of William Goodrige and Brock Tarr came from behind at first doubles for Prattsburgh in another threeset thriller (5-7, 6-0, 6-3).

There were some very tight matches at both second singles and first doubles," said Prattsburgh head coach Bill Strollery. "Both matches lasted over two hours and they were both big wins. There's no game clock in this sport and they never gave up. It was a nice start to the season for sure."

Jaguar Santas picked up a win for Wellsville at first singles, while teammates Jimmy Gilfert and Takahiro Histani won at second doubles.

H'port takes down Bolivar-Richburg GATEHOUSE MEDIA

BOLIVAR - Hammondsport used the strength of a sweep at singles to take down Bolivar-Richburg 4-1 Wednesday, April 2.

Chris Haluszczak, Peter Woods and Josh Malone all picked up two-set victories for the perfect day in singles, while the team of Connor Davis and Max Burke dug themselves out of a huge hole to pick up a win at second singles. The duo dropped the first set 4-6 and was down 0-3 in the second set before they came back to take the second set 7-5 and win the third 6-4 for the victory.

"I was surprised that they were able to come back because they are so young," said Hammondsport head coach Adam French. "We have six freshman, one sophomore and a junior, so I was proud of the way they never game up."

The team of Mike Hanchett and Matt Morris picked up the lone win for Bolivar- Richburg at first doubles.

Haverling takes 3-2 win away from LeRoy GATEHOUSE MEDIA

LEROY - In a match with three tie-breaks, Bath Haverling was able to gain the upper hand and take a 3-2 win away from LeRoy Wednesday, April 2.

Bath's Jason Carpenter led the Rams with a straight-set win at first singles, while teammate Sam Hall also claimed a two-set win at third singles. The team of Matt Robinson and Justin Sherwood added the clincher with the third Bath win at second doubles.

"It was really exciting because of all the close contests and tie-breaks we had," said Bath coach Murray Wright. "It was brisk and windy, but the kids adjusted well or the wind. The match was really enjoyable to watch."

LeRoy's Alex Roth took a three-set win away from Adam Webster, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 7-5, while the team of Evan Clames and Danielle Merica won first doubles.

Bath will have a bit of a hiatus from the court and will return after spring break with a match at Warsaw on April 22.

C'bell defeated by Notre Dame but gains win against Dundee GATEHOUSE MEDIA

CAMPBELL - Led by a quadruple-win effort from Olivia Weeks, Elmira Notre Dame placed first in every event to post a sweep of Campbell-Savona and Dundee.

Cat Lambert and Katrina Gleason each picked up two second-place finishes for Campbell-Savona (1-1).

H'port takes down Naples 3-2 GATEHOUSE MEDIA

NAPLES - Hammondsport used the advantage of a singles sweep to take down Naples 3-2 Thursday, April 3, on the road.

Chris Haluszczak and Peter Woods took first and second singles easily, while teammate Josh Malone went into a tiebreak with Naples' Jared Sharza, 11-10 (10-8). Also for Hammondsport, 7th grader Connor Amsden won his third straight exhibition match of the season.

While Hammondsport dominated singles, Naples enjoyed the same level of success in doubles. Josh Ramond and Will Gelder won their first doubles match, while the duo of Aaron Wordingham and Leif Love took second doubles.

C'bell track team gains win against Nortre Dame GATEHOUSE MEDIA

CAMPBELL - Campbell- Savona earned a split Thursday, April 3, with a win against Elmira Notre Dame and a loss to Dundee.

Campbell-Savona's Ryan Thompson placed first in the 110 hurdles in 19.0 seconds and also won the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 8-inches.

The Panthers also got firstplace finishes from Carson Tyler (1600 meters) and Josh Poplaski (discus).
