Local author to sign unique book at Dormann Library

Robert Dunham
BATH - Local writer Robert Dunham will appear April 16 in the Empire Room of The Dormann Library to sign copies of his book "The Silver Spoon Saloon." The book signing begins at 7 p.m.

Dunham's book is a collection of 17 narratives set in the American West and written in rhymed couplets. The poetic form makes the book a unique contribution to the body of American West literature mined by writers as diverse as Louis L'Amour and Cormac McCarthy.

Dunham is a lifelong student of the American West. His grandfather homesteaded in Kansas and met Jesse and Frank James. At an early age, Dunham was captivated by stories of the West while sitting at his grandfather's side, and over the intervening years he read hundreds of western boos, both fiction and nonfiction.

Dunham has also visited the territory used by Western writers - Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and Utah - and has a keen understanding of the physical challenges facing the settlers who lived there more than a century ago.

"The Silver Spoon Saloon" is published by iUniversity Publisher's Choice and is available at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Big Flats. It also is available on line at www.barnesandnoble.com, www.amazon.com and www.iuniverse.com.
