Sharon Callear

EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA - Sharon Callear, 68, of El Cajon, California, passed away Sunday, April 6 following a brief illness.

Born in Elmira on March 10, 1940, to John and Margaret Callear, she was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Haverling Central School in Bath in 1957 and from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Elmira in 1960.

Sharon worked as a registered nurse for 42 years, mainly at the long Beach Virginia Hospital, and most recently at the san Diego VA Hospital. She retired in 2002, then devoting her free time to volunteer work, her cats and her garden.

Sharon is survived by her long-time friend, Phil Toplansky of Murrieta, California; her sister, Anne (John) Keddy of Bath; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, John Callear.

Friends and family were invited to Clairemonte Mortuary in San Diego on Saturday, April 12, viewing from 1-4 p.m., with Celebration of life at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Humane Society or to East County Meals on Wheels, El Cajon, California.
