About that sign...
Just in case a sign along state Route 415 catches the attention of our readers, The Courier would like to offer a few words of explanation. In the week leading up to Monday's public hearing on a resolution to disband the Public Utility Commission, The Courier received three letters addressing the issue. We published all three letters in our April 20 edition. The letters shared the opinion the Bath village board should not dissolve the Commission.
Prior to the village board's passage of an initial resolution dissolving the Commission, The Courier received a letter alleging "unusual happenings" within Bath Electric Gas and Water Systems, which the Public Utility commission oversees. The Courier declined to run the letter because it addressed internal personnel issues within BEGWS that were difficult to verify. As a matter of policy, the Courier prefers not to publish letters that discuss individual personnel issues within local organizations and companies.
Otherwise, we welcome letters discussing the ongoing political controversy regarding the Public Utility Commission. Keep 'em coming!
