C-S track team qualifies for State Academic Award CAMPBELL - The Campbell- Savona girls varsity track and field team has qualified for the New York State Public High School Athletic Associations Scholar/Athlete Team Award for the fourteenth time in fifteen years. This years team had all twenty one of the girls qualify for the award combining their grand point averages to make a team grade point average of 91.668 percent. Amber Snyder, a Sophomore, led the team with a 98.7 percent average, followed by Leah McDonald, a Sophomore, with a 98.1 percent average and Jen Tims, a Sophomore, ranked third on the team with a 96.9 percent average. The rest of the team qualifying for this award are Seniors Taylor Morse, Courtney Roche, Amy VanZile and Mary Vimislki. Juniors on the team qualifying are Katrina Gleason, Liz Kuehner, Brooke LaVallee, Alyssa Rook, Megan Rydelek, Alyssa Sebastian and Becky Turner. Sophomores who qualified for the award are Mishaya Tuttle and Sierra White and Freshman who qualified are Paige Beach, Amanda Evingham, Amanda Fuller, Megan Gleason, Megan Rosko and Alexis Smith. "A lot of these girls are two and three sport athletes. Couple that with the fact that many of them have jobs and also participate in other school clubs and music programs, I think that this is a tremendous accomplishment for these girls as a team and as individuals," said coach Kevin Rosko. "We set this as one of our team goals every year. Everybody worked hard and contributed. It's a group that the community should be really proud of." |
