Bath town, village win grant for shared salt shed

      BATH - The village and town of Bath have been awarded a $276,000 grant from the New York governor's office to construct a salt shed on town-owned land along Wilson Avenue in the village. Town and village officials said the good news comes after years of unsuccessful applications for the funds.

      The Finger Lakes SPCA this month held its 12th Annual Volunteer Dinner Banquet at the Bath Country Club. The evening featured the recognition of 87 individual volunteers and five groups for their outstanding volunteer service to the Finger Lakes SPCA.

      PRATTSBURGH - There were four honorable mentions out of 1,800 New York entries in the "2008 Letters about Literature Contest," and McKenna Wise of Prattsburgh received one. McKenna read "Setting the Pace" by Lauraine Snelling.
