Bath town, village win grant for shared salt shed
By ROB PRICE THE COURIER-ADVOCATE

BATH - The village and town of Bath have been awarded a $276,000 grant from the New York governor's office to construct a salt shed on town-owned land along Wilson Avenue in the village.

Town and village officials said the good news comes after years of unsuccessful applications for the funds.

"It's good news," said Mayor David Wallace, "because it gets the salt out of the weather and it doesn't seep into the water table. It's also a financial benefit from a practical point of view."

The village and town together have set aside nearly $200,000 in local funds to pay for the project, which two years ago carried an estimated cost of $410,000, according to Supervisor Fred Muller.

Once built, the two municipalities will share the facility, along with the Village of Savona and the Bath school district, Wallace noted.
