Plea entered in cheerleading case BATH - A 21-year-old Fairport woman who co-owns a local cheerleading organization pleaded guilty Tuesday, June 3, to stealing money from a fundraising company. Heather Crowe, one of the owners of Northeast Elite Cheerleading, pleaded guilty in Steuben County Court to petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. She was originally charged with felony third-degree grand larceny and felony firstdegree scheme to defraud. She would have faced up to seven years in state prison had she been convicted to those charges. Crowe was accused of keeping more than $3,000 in proceeds from a fundraising company. Anthony Ronchi, a second co-owner, was also charged in the case. He is charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 17. Crowe's next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 4. Northeast Elite is based in Bath and Rochester. |
