Haverling school announces valedictorian and salutatorian

The Salutatorian for the Class of 2008 at Haverling High School is Jonathan Archer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce and Kimi Archer of Avoca. Jonathan has earned an impressive grade point average of 97.89. Over the course of his high school career he has been involved in National Honor Society, Boys State (Alternate), All- CountyBand, Class Treasurer, Chess Club, Big Blue Marching Band, Blue Regiment Field Band, Marching Band Section Leader, Haverling Concert Wind Ensemble, and Haverling Symphonic Band. Outside of school he has been involved with many activities such as: Bible Quizzing, Book Buddy, Church Media Personeel, Church Instrumental Soloist, Church Youth Group, Narroway Drama Troupe (Co-director in 12th grade) and has even taken a missions trip to India. He won the Haverling Physics Award, Elmira College Key Award, Clarkson Leadership Award and was nominated to the National Young Leader's Convention. In June Jonathan will graduate from Haverling with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors. This Fall, he will attend the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, with a major in Mechanical Aeorspace Engineering and a minor in Management.

The Valedictorian for the Class of 2008 at Haverling High School is Eric Argentieri, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald and Cheryl Argentieri of Bath. Eric has earned an impressive grade point average of 98.34. He has been involved in National Honor Society, 2006 National Young Leaders Conference - Medalist, Football(Captain), Baseball, Bath Rotary Interact Club (President), Phi Theta Kappa (International Honor Society of Two Year Colleges) French Club, Rotary Interact (President). He has earned the following awards: NYS Powerlifting Record - bench 340 pounds, 2007 NYS and American Powerlifting Record - deadlift 500 pounds, Most Valuable Offensive Lineman - Section V Class B Final (Sectionals), 2007 Livingston Conference Athletic Association
