Doris M. Bennett PULTENEY - Doris M. Bennett, age 68, entered into rest on Monday, June 9. She was born in Pulteney, to Nellie and Peter Tyler on July 13, 1939. She resided in Pulteney all her life. She worked in local vineyards and took care of frail people as a home aid previously. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She enjoyed making her daily rounds around town, spending time with her family, visiting with friends, quilting, sewing, making cookies and fudge for her family and friends, reading, watching movies, listening to country music and gambling with scratch off tickets. She had been involved with the Pulteney Women's Auxiliary for many years. She volunteered hours of her time to benefit others. She always helped friends and family in need. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Bennett in December of 1984. She is survived by her three sons, James (Vicky) Bennett of Pulteney, Joseph Bennett of Bath and Daniel Bennett of Pulteney; her two daughters, Bonnie (Tim) Hoose of Prattsburgh and Becky (Jason) Tears of Pulteney. Doris had eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, cousins and cherished friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. There will be no prior calling hours. Her funeral service was at Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh on Thursday, June 12, at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Don Peek officiating. Burial was on Friday, June 13, at 10 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery in Pulteney. The family request that memorials be made in Doris' name to the Pulteney Volunteer Ambulance Corps., Main St., Pulteney, NY 14874.
