Rumors have no place in campaign

Having watched political campaigns for many years, I am sure you would agree with me that the candidate or candidates with the least to offer the public are always the ones to begin slinging mud at a worthy candidate. Unfortunately, we are told by many media sources that it works! Well, it might work in some fancy areas, but not with down to earth people. We grew up with a simple code that people who matter don't judge and people who judge don't matter.

I would like to pledge today that I will not be slinging mud. I was not brought up that way. And I would urge the voters of Steuben County to realize that from now until November, if you hear some juicy tidbit about any candidate, please know that it is being put out there by people who lack the moral fiber to find a better way. Also, I believe that they are sending a subtle message to you that they know deep in their hearts that their candidate is incapable of holding the public trust with integrity.
