H'port PTO hosts first annual race

HAMMONDSPORT - The Hammondsport Central School Parent Teacher Organization recently held the first annual PTO Run, Walk or Crawl 5K Race. Over 80 people participated in the race that started at Hammondsport Central School and wound through the streets of the historic Village of Hammondsport.

The overall winner of the race was Russell Derrick who completed the race in 17:22. Medals were awarded to first, second and third place finishers in each age group. In addition, a 1K race was held for children ages 8 to 15 where ribbons were awarded to the top three racers in each age group.

"For its first year, the event was an overwhelming success and we are extremely pleased with the turnout," said PTO President Kim Sprague.
