Local students graduate from college • Dan R. Sly of Avoca graduated from SUNY Fredonia in Dec. 2007. He received a Bachelor of Science and Business Admin.- Management. • Megan Elizabeth Hubbard of Bath was one of four students graduating from Alfred University May 17 with high honors. An accounting major in the College of Business, she earned a 3.91 (out of a possible 4.0) grade point average. Hubbard is a graduate of Avoca Central School. • On May 17, 2008 Lauren Mitchell graduated from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry-Ranger School. She was the Salutatorian of her class. She was also awarded the Frank Letitia Buholtz Scholarship, the Wesson Scholarship Award, the 12th Forestry Chair's Award, the North American Forest Technology Honorary (all for academic excellence and leadership) and the Maple Leaf Award (for volunteer service to the college.) Lauren will be working this summer for the Maine Conservation Corps as an assistant team leader. This fall she will continue her education at the Main Campus of SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, majoring in Environmental Science. Lauren is a 2007 graduate of Haverling High School. Her parents are Mark and Eleata Mitchell. • Rachel Zydanowicz of Bath, earned her associate degree in culinary arts from The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) on May 2, 2008. Zydanowicz is a 2006 graduate of Haverling Central School. |
