Summer Reading! Catch the Reading Bug!

The summer reading program at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library is called "Catch The Reading Bug." This program fits any busy summer schedule. Kids of all ages may come in, sign up, and get started anytime during any week all summer between June 30 and Aug. 16. Here's how:

(1) Check out a book each week. (2) Get a prize. (3) Find the Reading Bug hidden in the library each week. (4) Keep track of books read each week.

Grand prizes will be awarded to those who complete at least six of the seven weeks of the program.

Participants are encouraged, but not required, to read books about "bugs." Small children who cannot yet read may be read to by their parents to reach their reading goal. For more information, call the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library at (607)569- 2045.

Summer crafts

Summertime is craft time at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library. All craft times begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the downstairs Keuka Room. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited. For children ages 5- 12.

July Movie for Children

Come watch a movie in our cool new downstairs! The movie is free and open to the public. Children 12 and under must have a grown up present. We make popcorn too! this month the movie will be 'Antz' on Wednesday, July 9th at 1pm at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library.

'Buggy' Cupcake

Decorating!

Come decorate cupcakes with worms, dirt and spiders! This class is for children ages 7 and up and will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the downstairs Keuka Room. Pre-registration is necessary so call The Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library at (607)569-2045 to sign up!

Summer Story Hour

for Preschoolers

Bring the young ones to The Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library for story time. We'll have great fun with stories and activities! Story time will be held on Friday mornings at 10:30am from July 11th thru August 15th. No pre-registration is necessary, just come and enjoy!

Concert with Jay

Mankita

Songwriter/guitarist Jay Mankita will appear at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library on Thursday, July 17 at 3 p.m. The concert will be for children and their families, presenting an interactive musical concert featuring quirky, original songs about the natural world with a special focus on 'bugs'! Classical/Popular Music Workshop for Kids and

Families

Professional musicians from the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra will perform a wide variety of classical and popular pieces to appeal to children just learning about music. This concert, sponsored by the Fingerlakes Chamber Music Festival will be held in the downstairs Keuka Room at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library on Friday, July 18th at 10:30am. Theater Day Camp

for Kids Act Up! Bringing Stories To Life- July 21-25 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library. This day camp is open to students entering 4th-6th grades who enjoy oral reading and performing. Acting skills will be introduced through theater games. Theater campers will be assigned parts in reader's theater-style performances of various stories and monologues. A public performance of 'Where The Wild Things Are' will be given by the group on Saturday morning, July 26 at 10 a.m. Attendance at each session is mandatory. Butterfly Pillow Project

Join us for this special craft project! Make a butterfly pillow without sewing! The class will be held on Thursday, July 24th at 2:30pm in the downstairs Keuka Room at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library. For children ages 7 and up. Pre-registration is necessary so call the library at (607)569-2045 to sign up!

Book Discussion

for Adults

Book Discussion Group meets on the second Monday of the month in the Robinson Room at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library. Interested readers are always welcome to join! Here is the selection for July:

Also earn "Morph Money" by reading and volunteering at the library. Morph Money can be used to bid on prize packages at "Locked in the Library" on August 22.

The Book Barn is now open on Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m weather permitting. Come browse and find some summer reading.

Don't forget to visit Chapters Café for coffee, espresso drinks, tea, frozen blended drinks, cold drinks and pastries.

Prattsburgh Free

Library

The Prattsburg Free Library is currently "bugging" Prattsburgh as part of the summer reading program "Catch the Reading Bug." You will find Bookworms, Bees, Computer Bugs, Spiders, Lady Bugs and Lightning Bugs in places of honor at the town hall and local merchants in Prattsburgh exhorting everyone to "Catch the Reading Bug" at the Prattsburg Free Library on Main Street. The Summer Reading Program will be held at noon on Tuesdays in July. The Zoomobile will start off the Program on July 1st. Get your child signed up for the summer program and with a library card from the Prattsburg Library you can join families across America and catch the Reading Bug.

Erin Peck will direct the program and read to the children.

Patty Connors, a new addition to the library staff will be available on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. to play board games with anyone interested in friendly competition. Patty's friendly demeanor and enthusiasm has made her a valuable asset to the library. This program was made possible by a donation from James and Jane Sierk.
