Tyrtle Beach benefit wraps up year BATH - It was a good year for the Tyrtle Beach Youth Fund. Donations to the fund, in support of the annual Lake Salubria "jump-in," totaled $33,808, the third highest amount in the history of the annual fundraiser for youth organizations in central Steuben County. The funds will be distributed among 79 youth programs, with checks available Monday at the Steuben County Youth Bureau, located on Liberty Street in Bath. Gary Pruyn, director of the Youth Bureau, called the fundraiser "a spectacular success." The fundraiser featured twin sisters Betty and Donna Gerych of Bath, who plunged together into Lake Salubria's chilly waters on April 18. The Gerych sisters joined Bath police Chief David Rouse and Bath police Officer Heather Wheaton as top fundraisers for the annual event. The following organizations will receive a portion of the funds: American Red Cross; Youth in Action Avoca school district; cheerleaders Avoca First Baptist church; youth archery group Avoca United Methodist church; senior youth group, youth campership and Cub Scout Pack 1032 Bath Baptist Church; August day camp, Bible school Bath Blast Soccer Bath Boys basketball program Bath Centenary Methodist Church; Cub Scout Pack 57 Bath Cinderella Softball Bath First Presbyterian Church; Intergenerational Youth Group and Boy Scout Troop 57 Bath Girls Basketball Club, ages 10-14 and ages 14-16 Bath Youth Football Bath Youth Football Cheerleaders Bath Youth Lacrosse Bath Youth Lacross Sports Arena Bath Youth Wrestling Campbell Cinderella Softball Campbell Day Camp Boy Scouts Campbell Youth Baseball Campbell/Savona Youth Wrestling Catholic Charities/Bath Hope; John Southard, Junior Lakers and Community Day Care Cornell Cooperative Extension; 4-H Youth Development, 4-H Youth |
