HAMMONDSPORT - Organizers for the 2008 Bath-Hammondsport Relay for Life continue to accept applications for luminaria displays, which will circle the track of the Hammondsport Firemen's Park during the evening of July 11.

Relay for Life participants will light the luminaria at 10 p.m. Friday in memory of people who have died from cancer, as well as in honor of cancer survivors. Luminaria forms appear on page 14 of this edition of The Courier. A $5 donation is requested for each luminaria.

This year's Relay will kick off at 6 :30 p.m. Friday, with the traditional Survivor's Walk scheduled for 10 p.m.

All-night events follow the lighting of the luminaria, including a scavenger hunt, a frozen t-shirt contest, entertainment by DJ Jerry Karns, square dancing and live music. There also will be gift certificates for area restaurants and golf at Bristol Harbour, and passes to the Curtiss Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass.

This will be the ninth Relay for Life in central Steuben County, where participants have raised nearly $1 million since the first event in 2000.
