Dormann Library to host guitarist BATH- Songwriter/guitarist Jay Mankita will appear at the Dormann Library on July 18 at 2 p.m. for children and their families, presenting an interactive musical concert featuring quirky, original songs about the natural world, with a special focus on bugs to support the 2008 summer reading theme, "Catch the Reading Bug". An activist for social and environmental justice, Mankita tours in his van, which runs on recycled vegetable oil. He enjoys showing his car to the kids after the show, and talking about how each of us can contribute to helping make a better world through small, simple changes. Mankita blends traditional acoustic blues, ragtime, and swing styles with a quirky, original feel. The Dormann Library performance is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts' Decentralization Program administered locally by The ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes. |
