Betty J. Aurand

BATH - Betty J. Aurand, age 73 of Robie Street, Bath, died Friday, June 27, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio December 10, 1928 the daughter of William and Alta Smouse Vogel.

Betty was retired from Steuben County as the Secretary to the Democratic Commissioner of the Board of Elections. She was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church and the Encourager's. She was very loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Aurand with whom she would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on July 2, 2008; two daughters, Wendy (Carl) Spady of Elmira and Sandy (John) Hmiel of Painted Post; her grandchildren, John, Derreck, Corey, Jessica and Ryan. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Howard.

Friends called on Tuesday, July 1 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath. Funeral services were on Wednesday, July 2 at 2:30 p.m. at the Avoca Baptist Church, with Reverend Curtis Parker officiating. Private graveside services will be held

in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.
