Engagement announcement

Mr. and Mrs. Walters have announced the wedding of their daughter, Vanessa Walters to Jeffrey Bates.

Vanessa Walters, of Bath, is the daughter of Jeff and Nancy Walters of Bath. She is a 2005 graduate of Haverling Central School, a 2007 graduate of Corning Community College and a member of the US Army National Guard MP Company.

Jeffrey Bates, of El- Paso, Texas, is the son of Steve and Patsy Bates of Bath. He is a 2005 graduate of Haverling Central School and a member of the US Army 4/1 CAV stationed at Fort Bliss.

A double ring ceremony and unity candle service was on April 5, 2008 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bath. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. The church was decorated with white roses, pink roses and white bows.

The bride wore a white Tulle ball gown with satin empire bodice and beaded embroidered metallic lace on bodice and skirt with chapel train. She wore a crystal heart and rhinestone Tiara-two tier finger tip veil with scalloped edge and beaded flower applique's. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, pink roses, baby's breath and ribbons. All flowers where done by the brides aunt, Diane Wavle from Fulton, New York.

Maid of honor was sister of the bride, Tiffany Walters, of Bath. She wore a strapless satin ball gown with side ruche and beaded bodice color-peridot with shawl.

Brides maids were friends of the bride, Wendy Snyder and Hollie Remchuck both of Bath. Both women carried three variegated pink with white long stem roses with fern and baby's breath.

Best man was friend of the groom, Kirk Leach of Bath. Ushers were friend of the groom, Kyle Benesh of Rochester and cousin of the bride, Lucas Lebans of Fountain Hills, Arizona. The groom wore his Class A's and the groomsmen wore black tuxedo's.

The couple now reside in ElPaso, Texas.

A wedding reception was at the Hammondsport Legion and a honeymoon is planned for the future.
