The blotter Sexual abuse The village of Bath police reports the arrest of Stanley J. Sulim, 66, of 10 Geneva St., Bath for first degree sexual abuse stemming from an allegation the he had sexual contact with a five year old female. Sulim was arraigned in Bath village court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Petit larceny The village of Bath police charged Joshua A. Simons, 17, of Bath and Nicholas J. Crouch, 17, of Campbell for petit larceny. Both are accused of stealing energy drinks from Tops Market in the village of Bath. Both will appear again in the village of Bath court at a later date. Sexual act Bath state police report the arrest of Lyman E. Storm, 64, of Texes, formerly of Hammondsport. Storm was charged with two counts of criminal sexual act first and second counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from a report of possible child abuse that occurred in the Town of Wayne. An investigation revealed Storm subjected two children less than 13 years of age to sexual contact during the summer of 2005 in the town of Enfield, Tompkins County. Storm was arrested, arraigned before Town of Newfield and committed to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $50,000 property bond. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible. Accident Sheriff deputies are investigating a motor vehicle one car rollover accident on the Grove Springs Rd., Wayne on July 15 at 12:45 a.m. Nathan b. Crouse, 22, of Hammondsport was operating his 1999 Mazda pickup in a Northerly direction on Grove Springs Rd. and as he rounded a left hand curve the vehicle dropped off onto the right hand shoulder of the highway and when he come back on the roadway he over steered and the vehicle veered across the roadway into a deep ditch where it rolled over. Crouse was issued a summons for a charge of failure to keep right on the highway and will appear at the town of Wayne court at a later date. Criminal mischief Bath state police charged Rebecca S. Simpson, 20, of Bath and Megan E. Zoerb, 18, of Savona for 4th degree criminal mischief following a complaint last week. Both are scheduled to appear in the village of Savona court at a later date. Garage fire Bath Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 112 Gansvoort St., Bath. First unites on the scene found a small fire on the first floor of a garage behind the residence, owned by Dean Rossman of Bath. The fire was quickly contained and damage was confined to a small area in the front of the garage. Investigations of the fire are continuing. Marijuana Sheriff deputies charged Tosha L. Johnson-Brownell, 30, of W. Steuben St., Bath at the County Office Building last week. Charges stem from unlawful possession of marijuana. Johnson-Brownell was issued an appearance ticket and released on her own recognizance. DWI Painted Post state police charged Charles E. Burlew, 26, of Avoca for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of .11 percent following a traffic stop last week. He is scheduled to appear in the town of Campbell court at a later date. Assault Sheriff deputes charged Jessica A. O'Konsky, 30, of Cameron for third degree assault after he was involved in a fight at a residence in Cameron Valley Estates. O'Konsky was arraigned in the town of Bath court and released to appear at the town of Cameron court at a later date. |
