Dorothy Dougherty

Dorothy Dougherty, age 91, passed away at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Patrick Monahan - Elizabeth Wimms.

She married Edward Dougherty on June 11, 1939 at St. Peters Church, Brooklyn. The couple moved to Bath in 1941 and owned and operated Charlies Inn on Belfast Street for many years.

Upon retiring she moved into the Lakeview Apartments, prior to the Steuben County Health Care Facility, where she resided until her death.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Eddie, father Patrick, mother Elizabeth, sister Mary Brennan, brothers George and Edward Monahan, and niece Jenni Guyette.

She is survived by her daughterMary Reber of Las Vegas NV, her brother Patrick Monahan, Bath, NY, sisters in law Mary Dougherty, Hicksville, NY, and Margaret Dougherty, nieces, Maureen (Mike) Fisher, Bath, NY, Dorothy Brennan, Patricia (Tom) Guyette, Brooklyn, NY, Kathy Peltz; grandchildren, Edward (Andrea) Morse, Dorothy (Michael) Downing, of Las Vegas, NV., Merrie (Steve) Chapman, Boise, Timothy Slayton of Hammondsport, NY, Barbara Morse- Paula, Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren; Cody Berg, CA, Amber Slayton, Las Vegas. Beth DeJon Lompoc, Robert & Katherine Lockyer, Boise and Alec Paula, Las Vegas, NV, great great grandchild, Madison DeJon; nephews, Brian and Derek Fisher; first cousins, Patrick (Mary Ellen) Monahan, Mary Kate Monahan, and Paul Guyette. Mrs. Dougherty shared her life with many other relatives in the Bath area. I would like to thank everyone at the Steuben County Health Care Facility for everything they did for Dorothy while she lived there, she thought of you as her family.

A Mass of Christian burial was held tSatuday at St. Mary's Church in Bath, NY, August 2, 2008 at 10:00 am. Celebrant Reverend James Jeager, assisted by Deacon Ray Defendorf. Internment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Bath, NY.
