John A. Fisher

John A. Fisher, beloved husband, father and grandfather, away after a short illness on Monday, Sept. 8 at Ira Davenport Hospital, Bath.

John honorably served his country during WW II in the African and Italy campaigns. He later fought in France where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. John retired from the NYS Department of Corrections in 1974. He continued to work in the real estate market and owned his own appraisal business. He was instrumental in the formation of the Bath Ambulance Corps and served two years as president.

John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Doris A. Fisher; two sons, John A. (Delores) Fisher III and James (Deborah) Fisher all of Bath; granddaughter, Dawn (Brian) Claflin of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandson, John Fisher IV of Westfield, New York; great grandchildren, Rodney (Courtney) Treat, Cassie Treat, Carrie Treat and Hannah Caflin; great great granddaughter, Sydney Catherine Treat; two brothers, Alfred (Edith) Fisher of Warsaw, New York and James Fisher of Lewiston, New York; and a sister, Velma (Harold) Howard of Basom, New York. He was predeceased by his brothers, Almond Fisher, Jerry Fisher, Charlie Fisher and Donald Fisher; sister, Martha Dutton; and first wife, Josephine Fisher in 1976.

Private family service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Alzheimers Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601 or the Volunteer Ambulance Corps of Bath, 110 East Steuben Street, Bath, NY 14810.
