25th Bath CROP Walk set for Oct. 11

BATH — The 25th Annual Bath Area CROP Hunger Walk is scheduled for Sunday, October 19. Richard Armstrong, pictured above, will be among the walkers gathering at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church in Bath at 12:30 P.M. on that date to register for the 10K Walk. Armstrong's efforts last year as walker and recruiter for the Hammondsport United Methodist Church brought in $1037 to help fight hunger locally and around the globe. The total amount raised by churches and other groups in 2007 was $11, 507. 70.

Each year, 25 percent of the money raised stays in the Bath area, going to local food pantries and the Pro-Action Nutrition Program for the Elderly. The remaining 75% is used for emergency relief and self-help programs the world over.
