The blotter Marijuana State police of Bath charged Howard P. Uber, 55, of Route 226 in the Town of Bradford for unlawfully growing marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana. Charges followed the discovery that Uber was growing marijuana in a field near his residence and that Uber possessed a small quantity of marijuana. Ten marijuana plants were seized during the course of this investigation. Uber was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Bradford court at a later date. Underage drinking initiative State police of Bath conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative Detail on Sept. 13 and Sept. 25. Numerous Steuben County retail businesses were checked using an underage subject who attempted the purchase of alcoholic beverages. The subjects unlawfully selling alcohol were subsequently arrested for the Penal Law Misdemeanor of first degree unlawfully dealing with a child and alcohol beverage control law misdemeanor of prohibited sale of alcohol. Subjects charged during this investigationwere: • Josephy L. Romer, age 20, of County Route 74, Prattsburgh. Romer unlawfully sold alcohol on Sept. 13, while working at the Hammondsport Grocery in the Village of Hammondsport. Romer was issued an appearance ticket and will return to the village of Hammondsport court at a later date. • Kathi L. Hyer, age 35, of Dusenberry Road, Savona. Hyer unlawfully sold alcohol on Sept. 13 while working at the Savona Arrow Mart in the Village of Savona. Hyer was issued an appearance ticket and will return to the village of Savona court at a later date. Petit larceny Sheriff deputies arrested Ryhan T. Stewart, 18, of Wolf Run Road, Campbell was charged with petit larceny after he allegedly stole property from the Wal-Mart store in Painted Post. Stewart was arraigned in the town of Erwin court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail unable to pay $500 cash bail and will appear in the town of Erwin court at a later date. Sexual abuse State police of Bath charged John P. Grimaldi, 68, of West LamokaAvenue, Savona for second degreesexualabuseandthirddegree sexual abuse. The charges follow from an investigation of a report that Grimaldi had unlawfully subjectedpersonstosexual contact.Incidents are reported to have occurred in the Village of Savona during the summer of 2006. Grimaldi is being charged for offending two different victims. One victim was under the age of 14 and the other victim was over the age of 14 at the time of the reported incidents. Grimaldi was issued an appearance ticket and will return to the village of Savona court at a later date. Assault State police of Bath charged Shane K. Davis, 16, of Bath for assault following a complaint on Sept. 24. Davis is scheduled to appear in the town of Bath court at a later date. Possession State police of Bath charged Travis S. Otero, 18, of Hammondsport for unlawful possession of marijuana following a complaint on Sept. 25. Otero is scheduled to appear in the town of Campbell court at a later date. DWI Jeffery Lewis of County Route 13, Bath was charged by indictment with two counts of driving while intoxicated and first degree unlicensed operation of a vehicle arising out of allegations that on Jan. 19, 2008 in the village of Bath the defendant operated a vehicle while intoxicated and while his license to operate a vehicle was revoked or suspended. The defendant was previously convicted of driving while ability impaired by drugs in the town of Wheeler in Jan. of 2007. Criminal mischief Mitchelle W. Prestridge, Jr. of County Route 105, Avoca was charged by indictment with third degree criminal mischief and second degree harassment in the town of Avoca. Prestridge damaged property and threatened another person and is also charged with second degree reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and leave the scene of an accidentbasedonallegations that on Aug. 18, 2008 in the town of Bath he damaged the property of another while operating a motor vehicle and left the scene of an accident without reporting. Grand larceny Anthony Young of County Route 6, Avoca, was charged with indictment with fourth degree grand larceny based on allegations that in Aug. of 2007 in the town of Avoca, Young stole one or more handguns having a value excess of $1,000. Sexual abuse Leon Hosmer of Brookwood Estates, Bath was charged by indictment with first degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child arising out of allegations that in Jan. of 2008 in the village of Bath, the defendant subjected a five year old child to sexual contact. |
