Walter E. Becker, Sr.

RATTSBURGH - Walter E. Becker, Sr., age 86, of Williams Rd., Prattsburgh died Thursday, Oct. 2, at the McAuley Manor in Hornell.

Friends and family were invited to attend his memorial service at the Prattsburgh United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 with the Rev. Beverly Davenport.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Walter was born on Dec. 15, 1921 in Hicksville, the son of the late John and Marie Granz Becker. He retired from the Town of Laurel Hollow's Highway Department. He was a member of the Prattsburgh United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, going to the Saturday Market and working with the Senior Citizens.

Walter is survived by his son , Walter E. (Jean) Becker, Jr. of Naples; daughter, Susan (Edward) Varga of Holbrook, New York; grandchildren, Kimothy (Gary), Edward III, Craig, Kara and Vanessa; several step-children; sister, Edna Wicks; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ida L. Becker in May of 1980; second wife, Lucille M. Becker in June of 1995; his son, Edward Alan Becker on June 6, 2006; brothers, Ernie, Louis and John 'Jack' Becker; and sister, Marion Loeffler.
