Elizabeth "Betty" J. King Cheney BATH - Elizabeth "Betty" J. King Cheney, age 79, of Cedar St., Bath, died Oct. 9 at home. She was born in Corning on Oct. 21, 1929, the daughter of Ernest L. Burris Sr. and Gertrude C. Johnson. Betty was a former employee at Grant's in Bath, McDonoughe Grocery and a past bookeeper for the Bath American Legion. She was also an avid bingo player. Surviving Betty are her daughter, Darlene (Don) Howard of Hammondsport; two sons, Lynn King (Brandy) of Wallace and Wayne (Carol) King of Irmo, South Carolina; brother, Ernest L. (Gertrude) Burris of Horseheads; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edson H. King in 1972; and her second husband, Robert D. Cheney in 1998. Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 at Fagan's Funeral Home, 31 West Morris St., Bath. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at Fagan's Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Madden officiating. Burial will be in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty's name may be made to The Finger Lakes S.P.C.A. in Bath. |
