CORNING - Christ Episcopal Church will continue a tradition dating back 21 years today by hosting a free Thanksgiving Day dinner for the community.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue until everyone in attendance is served, said Janet Farnsworth, event organizer.
Anyone is invited to a free turkey dinner, at 33 E. First St., which will include turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, corn, squash, cranberry sauce, rolls, pie and beverages.
“People who don’t want to or can’t cook their own Thanksgiving Day come here, have some company and don’t eat alone,” Farnsworth said. “Sure we want to feed people who are hungry, but we also want to give company to people who are alone on Thanksgiving.”
Farnsworth said some people have been coming to this event since it’s inception.
“They have enjoyed their time and come back. We’re hoping for the same thing to happen (today),” Farnsworth said. “A lot of them tell other people about it and bring friends. People often sit with each other and enjoy Thanksgiving Day dinner.”
Farnsworth said one of the best things about the annual Thanksgiving Day dinner is the food is “wonderful.”
