CORNING - A couple is pouring its heart into a new tavern, set to open in early January on Market Street, that will offer a friendly atmosphere, drinks and the ability to play pool on a 9-foot table and or other popular games.
Arne and Nyanka Feyling, owners, said the West Market Street location that will house The Office Pool and Libations is nearing completion of renovations and upgrades.
“We’ve talked about opening this for about a year,” said Arne Feyling. “We saw an opportunity to contribute. We like Market Street and wanted to be here. We hope to become Corning’s game room.”
The Office Pool and Libations will feature a full bar, including wine, bottled beer and brews on tap, two 9-foot Brunswick pool tables, and other games including darts, chess and other games.
Arne Feyling said for paying customers there is no charge to play a game of pool or any of the other games featured.
“We wanted to have a place where you can play pool on real tables and not to mess with a coin operation,” Arne Feyling said. “All games are not charged for customers. You just need to sign up on the chalkboard and you’ll be next in line.”
The Office Pool and Libations will be open from 11 a.m.- 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m.- 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The bar will be closed on Sundays.
“We enjoy to play pool and we didn’t think there was a place in Corning that offered this,” said Nyanka Feyling, bar manager. “We hope to open January 1. We may have a soft opening if everything works out just before Christmas.”
The bar, which can hold about 65 customers, and offers seating for 20 in the bar area, expect to employ about five people.
