Guthrie Medical Group announced Thursday that it is partnering with the Wineglass Marathon to become its first official title sponsor.
The Wineglass Marathon will now be known as the Guthrie Wineglass Marathon. The two sides have agreed to a five-year partnership.
“The Wineglass Marathon is one of the premier marathons in the country,” said Dr. Fred Bloom, President of Guthrie Medical Group. “And to be involved with such a great event is a great opportunity for Guthrie.”
Guthrie and Wineglass officials said the partnership highlights both organizations focus on health and wellness for the community.
“I think the real beauty of this is we’re focused on the same things,” said Wineglass Board President Chris Sharkey. “We’re focused on community and health, so really it’s an incredible partnership.”
“We do a lot in the community, we donate a lot back to the community, and (the partnership) allows us to do more of that,” Wineglass Race Director Sheila Sutton said. “It allows us to do more of an outreach to the community, partnering in the health and fitness realm.”
“The Wineglass Marathon is known as a premier regional event,” said Melissa Tourtellotte, Director of Marketing and Communications at Guthrie. “Guthrie is really interested in engaging more local people… and for us to work with (Wineglass), they have such a solid, community support base that’s really embracing the race, and all the activities around it.”
“For us, we have opportunity to engage a whole other group of people… and our patients who have the benefits of being more physically active,” she added. “So for us, it’s a way to reach out to our primary audience, our patients.”
All marathon materials will feature the new Wineglass logo.
