CORNING -- Thousands of people poured onto Market Street Saturday evening for the 43rd annual Sparkle, in a night that featured Santa Clause, horse-drawn carriages, Christmas lights, and all-around holiday cheer.

The festivities included music and entertainment at Centerway Stage, food and vendors, a live reindeer display, Santa in his crystal house, fireworks and more.

Everything was set to start at 5 p.m., though crowds were already strolling Market Street and a line to see Santa had already formed well before then.

“People started pouring in when we were setting the street up,” said Coleen Fabrizi, Gaffer District Executive Director.

Locals and visitors from all over spent the night enjoying the festivities.

“We spoke to so many people as they were going by, people as far away as Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and then within our immediate region as well,” Fabrizi said. “We’re honored that we’re one of the downtowns that people choose to make a part of their traditions.”

Sparkle will return in 2018.
