CORNING - The popular Gaffer Grill & Tap Room on West Market Street recently closed after more than 15 years of service and will reopen in early April as Burgers & Beer of Corning.

The new restaurant will be similar to Burgers & Beer of Hammondsport, said Dave Fice, owner of the Shethar Street site and the 60 W. Market St. buildings.

Fice said Burgers & Beer of Corning will be serving food from 11 a.m. to 10:10 p.m seven days a week.

“The kitchen will be open until 10:10 p.m., but the bar will stay open later than that depending on how busy it is,” Fice said. "It will be a full bar."

The menu includes appetizers, chicken, salmon, tuna, fresh cut fries, salads, soups, and of course burgers.

“I’m looking forward to it reopening,” Fice said. “I think there is a niche for this type of restaurant. It will be different than everything else on the street. It will be a lot of fun.”

Fice said when people walk inside Burgers & Beer they will see a much different place.

“We’re changing a little bit of everything inside,” Fice said. “The bar, the kitchen, pretty much everything.”

Walt DeLap will be the manager of the Burgers & Beer, Fice said. DeLap is also the manager of the Hammondsport restaurant.
