CORNING - Crystal Lanes was filled to capacity Wednesday as it hosted area Special Olympians.
More than 100 athletes participated in the event.
"We have Horseheads Centeral School District here. We also have Elsmere Eagles from GST Boces Bush campus and Spencer-Van Etten students," Horseheads physical therapist Alisha Tenbus said.
According to Tenbus, the athletes participating ranged in age from 5 to 21. Horseheads students were from kindergarten to 8th grade.
Horseheads students also wore shirts obtained through a grant from Horseheads Elks Lodge 2297 in June 2017.
"We have Genesee Region Special Olympics down running the program for us in conjunction with Crystal Lanes and all of our students are able to participate," Tenbus said.
New York State Trooper Chris Glick also was there to hand out ribbons to the bowlers.
"The kids are loving it and enjoying it and it gives them a feeling of accomplishment," Tenbus said of the event.
Horseheads School District will host a Special Olympics swim meet on April 7 from 2-5 p.m.
